International passengers are being screened for body temperatures as the coronavirus is gradually infecting people in different parts of India
Until Wednesday, there were 23 cases of coronavirus in India, with a person reported positive with COVID-19, from Gurgaon, along with 15 Italian tourists and other six persons. But seems like the virus is gradually spreading in the country with each day. As per the latest news the number has just gone up. Emergency precautions are being taken by the government as international passengers are being screened for body temperatures. But it is not looking enough for strong prevention.
Recent reports, confirmed on Wednesday, revealed that COVID-19 cases have now gone up to 29 in India; it’s a sharp increase of 6 in just a single day.
Throughout the globe the overall cases of coronavirus have now accelerated, thus infecting more than 94,000 people, and killing around 3,222 of them. (Updated till Wednesday).
The recent case of COVID-19 in India is of a PayTM employee, from Gurgaon, who was found positive with the virus after a test on Wednesday. He had returned from his vacation in Italy.
His team members have now been asked to conduct a test for themselves to check if they are infected or not.
Following this confirmation and news of its employee getting infected, PayTM has shut down its offices in Gurgaon and Noida for several days, for sanitization.
New cases about the virus have been coming from Jaipur, where the Italian tourists were found positive with the COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has started conducting a universal screening of all the international passengers entering the borders from abroad. Previously, only the passengers from China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Nepal, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia were going through checks.
Prakash Javadekar, the union minister, recently said that about 600,000 persons have been tested for the disease, across 21 airports in the country.
All the public hospitals have been asked to be ready for more incoming cases.
“We will ensure that all facilities are of the highest order to handle patients that require any isolation,” said Mr. Harsh Vardhan, the health minister.
