COVID-19 In India: A total of 3,245 samples have been screened of which 5 are tested positive (including 3 cases from Kerala). The two new cases are from Hyderabad and Delhi have increased the chances of community transmission of the virus in India.
One of the cases is that of a 45-year-old man who landed from Italy to India; currently, he has been admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital along with four other members of his family who are under observation. The man had organized a birthday party at Hyatt Regency on Feb 28. The hotel staff has asked its staff about who was on duty that day, to conduct daily temperature checks. A school in Noida has also been shut down as the man’s son attended classes there, and now five students are kept under observation.
The case in Hyderabad is of a person who traveled from Dubai to Bengaluru on Feb 20. He traveled in an Indigo flight and has been tested positive for COVID-19. The airline said in a statement, “We are following all the prescribed Airport Health Organisation guidelines”. The four-cabin crew members have been asked to stay at home.
A 69-year-old man was also tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. A double test was conducted for this man as the earlier test came out negative following the other test, which was a re-verification test and came out positive.
Latest Update on Coronavirus Cases In India
Six people who were under observation for the suspected coronavirus infection after they attended a birthday party in Noida have been tested negative for the virus. However, the District Magistrate BN Singh said that they will be put under home quarantine for the next 14 days.
States like Agra and Telangana are on alert. In Agra, six people have been kept under observation as there might be a chance of any link with both Delhi and Jaipur infected cases. In Telangana, there is a rush in authorities to identify all those people who got In touch with the person who traveled from Dubai to Bengaluru.
As many as 15 Italian tourists have been tested positive, recently, the Delhi government officials confirmed. The infected people were among 21 tourists who visited Delhi. The group has been quarantined at an ITBP facility in New Delhi.
The international team of experts on the ground and a new paper from China with detailed data on more than 44,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 indicates that 80% of people have mild disease and are recovering. Around 14% have severe disease. The virus has killed 2-3% in the reported cases, mostly older people. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that temperature screening alone at entry and exit is not an effective way to stop the international spread of the virus.
India is also canceling visas for countries like South Korea, Itlay, Iran, and Japan. With a total of 88,932 confirmed cases and 3,045 total number of deaths, the virus has been engulfing life. India must work in an emergency mode to stop the infection. Training the hospital staff, ensuring adequate stock of protective gear and eradicating the fake news are small steps.
