Bengaluru – July 1 2020: As the number of covid cases increase in Bengaluru, the state government chalks out measures to preprare for the possible outbreak in coming weeks and months. CM BS Yediyurappa chaired a meeting at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday to seek suggestions from health experts on the way forward.
Since past 3-4 months Karnataka has been consistent in its efforts to contain the spread of corona visrus. Karnataka has fared better compared to other states in covid management. The cases is on rise, especially in Bengaluru city, due to people who have arrived from high-risk states like Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Gujarat, Medical Education Minitser Dr.Sudhakar said.
Karnataka was the first state to announce lockdown and has effectively adopted the suggestions provided experts and imolemented the guidelines issued by central government. The process of establishing Covid Care Centres to treat asymotomatic patients is underway and discussions have been held with private hospitals for providing treatment to covid patients, Chief Minister said.
After the meeting Medical Education Minister Dr.Sudhakar informed media that CM will hold one more meeting with Ministers and senior officials to deliberate on the suggestions provided by experts and a final decision will be made based on these suggestions. New guidleines on treatment protocol will be released soon. Minister said.
Suggestions provided by experts
1. Asymptomatic patients and patients with mild symptoms can be kept under Home isolation and mointored remotely. This will reduce the burden on hospitals.
2. Priority should be given to treat patients who have severe symptoms and comorbidities.
3. Focus should be on reducing doubling rate. People in closed places, crowded areas should be more careful.
4. Telemedicine should be extensively used to treat more patients.
5. More manpower is required to work on field and contact tracing. Staff from ithe4 deoartments can be utililsed.
6. There is a need to train more doctors on on using Tele-ICU.
7. There is a need for uninterrupted supply of oxygen and new medicines to hospitals.
8. There is a need to create awareness among people and reduce the atmosphere of panic that is created.
