Medical students should get the vaccine and lead the drive : Dr.K.Sudhakar
Bengaluru : Medical students should lead the Covid Vaccination drive by getting themselves vaccinated said Health & Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar. He was speaking after the inauguration of obstetric triage at Vani Vilas Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The Minister also inaugurated Respiratory ICU at Victoria hospital and road construction work under smart city project. Speaking at the event he said that Karnataka has got the Vaccine after 10 months of Covid case first reported in the state. Medical students should become ambassadors of this vaccination drive. Other staff will get inspiration from Medical students. Some students are quoting exam as reason for not getting the vaccination. But there is no link between exams and vaccine since there is no side effects. Students should owe the responsibility of boosting the morale of the public to get the vaccine, he added.
Some states have announced to cut the salary if not vaccinated, but we don’t have such restrictions here. Our vaccines are in demand in more than 25 countries. PM Narendra Modi Govt is giving it for free and people should get it voluntarily said the Minister.
People have understood the importance of health after this pandemic. Our Government has improved the health infrastructure in last 7-8 months. There were 3000 oxygenated beds under Health department and 4,500 under Medical Education department earlier. Today we have 30,000 oxygenated beds under both the departments together. CM B.S.Yediyurappa has decided to prioritize Health sector in this budget as well, Said Dr.Sudhakar.
Victoria Hospital has rendered yeoman service during Covid times. More than 200 pregnant Covid positive patients have been successfully treated in Vani Vilas hospital. I congratulate the staff for this feat, he said.
